Lucky Me | Westport Family and Child Photographer

Three incredibly adorable boys!

Are you thinking what I think you’re thinking? I think you’re thinking that I titled this post “Lucky Me” because I captured these three handsome boys in the same frame at the same time, AND got eye contact as a bonus! Well, you’re half right if that’s what you were thinking. I AM lucky to have this shot of the three brothers all looking at me and letting me capture a glimpse of their personalities.

I really titled this post “Lucky Me” because these three boys’ mom picked me to be their family photographer. She’s an accomplished, talented, fun, creative, amazing local artist. When I saw her work I was awe-struck, humbled and flattered all at the same time.

This time of year I can’t help but to reflect and think about what I’m thankful for. The amazing families I have spent time with this fall are at the top of my list. I know my clients have a choice, thank you for picking me guys <3 <3

Two adorable boys

Before photography, I worked in real estate valuations. I spent most of my days talking to real estate agents and appraisers and talking to them about BPOs and 1004 forms. Most of my calls were short, but I always tried to take the time to learn a little more about the voice on the other end of the phone. It wasn’t until I started photographing children that I realized what I loved about my old job was not the BPOs and appraisals, but the relationships I developed with the agents and appraisers that I spoke with daily.

To me, photography is just as much about relationships as it is about ink on paper. The most gratifying part of my day as a photographer is when I earn my little subject’s trust. Not only is it a gift from the heart, but it allows me the ability to capture moments that are true, real and sincere.

Before I earned these little guys’ trust, I saw two beautiful little people. After I earned their trust I saw two beautiful little souls.

Name Dropper | Connecticut and NYC Celebrity Photographer

Recently I was at a dinner party chatting with a few guests about comedian Brian Regan’s take on dinner parties. If you know me, then you must have heard me recite his dinner party routine (not quite) verbatim at least once. His views on me-monsters totally cracks me up. When he gets to the part about walking on the moon I need oxygen because I’m laughing so hard. Thinking about Brian’s take on me-monsters makes me wish he did a bit on name-droppers. That’s right, name-droppers. The type of shameless person that is looking for any excuse to throw around an impressive name.

I’m not a name-dropper. If I were, by now I would have casually mentioned the name Greg Norman. I’d go on about how I had the incredible opportunity to photograph The Shark at his fashion house in the heart of NYC’s fashion district. I’d say I got a behind the scenes look at Greg Norman’s gorgeous spring collection and watched The Shark collaborate with his designers. I’d just slip the name Greg Norman into the blog as many times as I could.

I think being a name-dropper is somehow related to me-monster. I’m sure Brian would have some hilarious (and clean, I love that about him) take on name-dropping. Brian Regan, are you out there? Can you add something about name dropping to your comedy routine?

Greg Norman.
